“Too many stores are stuck in the past with bad lighting, depressing interiors, messy merchandising, and a weak assortment of products. ![]() Neil Saunders, retail industry analyst and managing director of GlobalData, said in a note to investors that the closures are the result of CVS having “too many overlapping locations” and the dilapidated state of its stores that has “pushed some of them into the downward spiral of irrelevance.” Affected employees will be offered jobs at nearby locations. The closures will cost the company about $1 billion dollars in the fourth quarter of 2021. “We remain focused on the competitive advantage provided by our presence in thousands of communities across the country, which complements our rapidly expanding digital presence,” said CVS CEO Karen Lynch. That includes remodeling some stores to include more health services, such as primary care, and an “enhanced version” of its HealthHub layout. When it mattered the most, the Jets defense got one more stop against Josh Allen in overtime, setting the stage for a wild 65-yard punt return touchdown for rookie Xavier Gipson to give the Jets a dramatic overtime victory on Monday Night Football. They kept the Jets in a game that they had no business being in after Rodgers went down. New York’s defense saved them, holding Josh Allen to 190 yards, one touchdown, and four turnovers. Allen also coughed up a fumble late in the game. Allen threw three interceptions, all to Jets safety Jordan Whitehead, who had never even logged three interceptions in a season before tonight. The Bills won the toss in overtime, but went three and out on their first drive, and on the ensuing punt rookie Xavier Gipson took it 65 yards to the house for the walkoff winner to give the Jets an emotional Week 1 win. ![]() That was enough time for Allen to hit Diggs on three of his four completions on the final drive of regulation and set up a 50 yard Tyler Bass field goal that banged off the left goal post and through the uprights to tie the game at 16-16 with two seconds on the clock. On the next play from scrimmage Josh Allen fumbled the ball, giving away his fourth turnover of the game, and the Jets took the lead with a Greg Zuerlein chip shot from 30 yards out with 1:48 to play. Wilson found up and coming superstar Garrett Wilson who made a one handed snag in the end zone to tie the game up at 13-13 with under five minutes to play. Thanks to Whitehead’s third interception of the night, the Jets got great field position which led to their only offensive touchdown of the game. That would be the only bright spot of the Bills opener as Allen went on to throw three interceptions, all picked off by Jordan Whitehead. Josh Allen and Buffalo weren’t able to unlock the Jets defense, despite going up 10-3 thanks to second quarter touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs. Zach Wilson came in to the game after Rodgers went to the locker room, and the Jets offense sputtered for most of the game, but the defense was heroic in a night that the Jets had to fight off the devastation of potentially losing their QB1 for the foreseeable future. ![]() The Jets fans and players seemed stunned as all of the hype and excitement disappeared in an instant and Robert Saleh told reporters after the game that “it doesn’t look good,” when asked about the status of Rodgers’ injury. ![]() The initial though was a potential ankle injury, but there are tremors around New York that it could be an achilles injury which would be much more serious. Only four years later Quincy made another step in municipal progress, and this by far the most important in its results for the comfort and convenience of the citizens. In a short time the old kerosene street lamps, which were the cause of frequent complaint to the council, disappeared in favor of electricity on the streets and in many of the stores and private homes. A social election on August 4, 1890, provided for the bonding of the village to an amount not to exceed $6,000 to build an electric light plant. Berry, Joseph Berry, John Broughton, William Cole, John Sebring, William Arnold, Cyrus Lusk, Christopher Conley, and Martin Hawley. In 1856 the village was platted, the plat being signed by the owners of the site, being the well known names of Enos G. But in the following three or four years a number of business and dwelling houses were erected. In 1853 the old tavern on the site of the Quincy House, one or two stores, the postoffice, and some professional and mechanical interests were all that Quincy could claim in the direction of village growth. The location depended on the ability of Quincy to build a freight house, and it was owing to the energy and zeal of the late Lucas Joseph, whose career was so markedly identified at all times with the best interests of this village, that the building was erected. But the station would have been located several miles east on the county line. ![]() It is said that, had not the enterprise of several citizens intervened to prevent, Quincy would not have been made a station on the railroad. No doubt the great impulse to growth was given by the railroad, which was built through the site of Quincy in 1850. The stores and mechanical and professional activities, already described during the first years, did not stop at the stage which would make a country hamlet, as we have seen to be the case in more than one such nucleus of settlement.
